A quick piece inspired by Noelle Stevenson’s She-Ra and Rhea Ripley.

I wanted to design a strong female character while developing ideas for a project I’m working on. I’ve been exploring feminist frameworks — thinking about the male gaze and performative femininity — and how those ideas shape how we see strength and vulnerability in character design.

I wanted to get a feel for his style while creating my own original character. This was a fast piece to support a project I’m working on.

Tried out my Ohuhu markers (which I’ve used for years) in my new A4 sketchbook from Hobbycraft, and it was definitely a learning experience. The markers worked beautifully as always, but the paper absorbed the ink a little too fast, making blending tricky. It also couldn’t handle as many layers as I wanted.

Still, it was a fun experiment, and I learned a lot from it. Have you ever had an art supply that didn’t quite work the way you expected? Let me know your experiences!
